How-to’s of 2006 Corvette M6 BCM fix with GM Tech2?

Car model and year: 2006 Corvette M6

Symptom description:

The new column lock replacement parts have been installed in my 2005 M6 and now I need to instruct the BCM to ignore any odd codes from the column lock as a part of the fix outlined in the TSB.

Tool to use:

GM Tech2



Will need to pick up a Ac Delco subscription for $40 to start with so you can get access to the new firmware file.

Next, if you don’t have a rs-232 port on your laptop, will need to buy the needed USB cable so you can connect the tech II to your laptop on a USB port.


Now the easy part, Put the tech II into pass through mode, connect it to the car with car in run mode motor off, and bring up TDS on your machine to use SPS.
Now using TDS SPS, run through it until you get to the modules mode, and and select Body control module.

In the firmware selection screen utility to disable the steering control lock in calibration, and flash that it.

This will cover you to see what to select the firmware file to flash in.

FYI, it’s a new file and one that will not be in TIS2000 unless you have an active account that can connect to GM to pull the needed updated firmware file that was just released this year. Most don’t, so TDS for $40 for two years it the cheaper option.

A frustration to be solved:

Got the usb to rs232 cable and the $40 subscription but cannot for the life of me get the laptop to connect to the Tech2 and the car. I am getting messages from the website to restart my programming interface and when I log in and try to add the VIN, the website takes me to a bunch of warning messages and unread alerts. Once I get SPS up and try to run the process after selecting the Tech2 pass through mode and checking the connection, I just get error messages. I have gone the rough the connection and login process several times and followed the connection instructions on SPS exactly. I don’t know if I need to enter the VIN someplace but can’t seem to do that. The Tech2 connects to the car fine so it has to be the web, laptop, tech2 connections that is not happening..


When you start SPS the first time, you have to set it up correctly. There are a few programs that you needed to download and install, as well as allowing a few sites to get through, then final Java updates that are needed.

After this and you have sps start up, when you get the first pop in SPS , did you install the Tech II J2534 driver or not?

Lastly, with Tech II connected to the machine, go in device manager and make sure that the tech II is showing up in the list as well.

Also to point out, not sure where you bought your Tech II kit from, but should have come with a candi module from the start that should be in play.


Myself, I just use a VX nano most of the time, since the VX driver works for SPS (don’t have to load either bosch drivers), nor play the extra candi/usb cord since the usb cord that comes with it is all that is needed for SPS programming.

How to use FLY SVCI DoIP?

Download the original software and FLY OBD driver:

Step 1:Download the original software (Pathfinder, SDD2 and SDD2 “QuickLoader” software)

These three software can be installed in the same operating system together, and when you use SDD2 software,  you have to open it from the SDD2 “QuickLoader” software. And when the software is installed, the device needs to be connected to the laptop and vehicle.

1.Recording Data:

From the “All DTC” screen, select the system you need to monitor operational data from.

-In this example we will be looking at the Engine ECU.

2.From the “Self Diagnostic Result” screen, select the “Data Monitor”tab.

3.Selecting Data:

(i) Clear the pre selected Main Signals items by touching “Clear Monitor Item”.

(ii) Highlight the desired items from the list on the screen. Select these examples:

4.Setting Recording Parameters:

In some cases, the default settings may be all that are required.(i) Touch the “Setting”tab (circled right).

(ii) Sampling Rate:Slow down the “Sampling Rate” from every 10ms to every 20ms.This can be done by selecting the drop down icon. (circled). (iii) Recording Time:There maybe cases where the recording time needs to be extended beyond the 10 sec. default.For this exercise, set the “Recording Time”to 20 seconds(arrow at right) so as not to make the graphs too large.

(iv) Trigger Point:Adjust the “Trigger Point” (arrow at right). Move it to 20% Preand 80% Post (circled).

5.Setting Trigger Conditions:

(i) Select the second tab “Trigger Condition 1”.This provides access to trigger condition settings.Un-select the “DTC Trigger”box if the ECM has a permanent DTC in it. Otherwise, the recording will start automatically as soon as a DTC is detected.

(ii) Select “Confirm” on the bottom right of the screen.

6.Data Recording outline:

The recording activityis basically as follows;(i) Touch record.(ii) Immediately start Engine & allow to idle for 2 seconds max.(iii) Race engine twice & allow to idle again until the end of recording.The above must be carried out as quickly as possible in order to maximise the recorded data on the graphs.

7.Start the Recording:

(i)Once prepared, touch “RECORD”on the bottom right of the screen to capture the activity of the engine as described above in step #6.Watch the recording time bar graph (circled at right). Recording stops at 100%.

(ii) Once the recording has stopped, the graph of data is automatically displayed.

Data can be viewed as required in either graphical or numerical form.

8.Saving the Recording:

The recorded file should now be saved so it is not accidently lost before it can be reviewed in detail.

(i)Select the “Save” button (circled) at the top left of the screen.

(ii) This opens the “Data Monitor” dialogue box. Enter the vehicle’s VIN as the “File name” to make the file easy to find later.

The file is now safely stored on the Toughbook in the CONSULT-III plus “Data Folders”.

(iii) Close the recording by selecting the red “X” Close button at the top right of the screen (circled at top right).

9.Accessing and Reviewing Recorded Data:

(i) Click on the “Recorded Data” icon at the top of the screen (circled).

(ii) Since this is a Data Monitor recording, select the “DataMonitor” folder.

10.Reviewing Data File:

The file can be displayed in graphical or numerical formats as required.

(i) In graphical display, one graph can be “dragged” from its current position in the screen order to be located alongside any other signal for a direct comparison.

(ii) If so desired, you can compress more data into the same field. Select the “+” or “-” symbol (circled).

(iii) It?s possible to slide the data back in time to catch activity well before “RECORD” was touched (represented by vertical red line near left of screen).

11.Sending Recorded Files to TechLine:

Once a recording has been saved, it can be readily accessed and attached to a TechLine Contact.

(i) Minimise CONSULT and click on the “CIII plus Data Folder” icon on the desktop.

These files are saved in a specific folder within the CONSULT application files:


(ii) Select the “DataControl” folder.

This is where all saved data of any kind is located.

(iii) Select the “Data Monitor” folder.

Since you were using Data Monitor, it is in this folder that your saved file will be stored.

What is DPF forced regeneration:

A forced regen occurs when soot builds up inside the diesel particulate filter (DPF) to the point that the vehicle is no longer operable. When this happens, a driver has to pull over and initiate a self-cleaning process that can take up to 40 minutes — valuable time that could have been spent on the road.

What is necessary for Honda DPF forced regeneration:

A decent Honda HIM diagnostic interface and a functional laptop running on Windows 7

When should you do DPF forced regeneration on Honda:

When you are in degraded mode or with the message “Check system”, or if like me, you regenerations too close and you want to limit the damage before it is too late.

Small extra info before starting:

– Make sure you have a PC laptop preferably holding the charge for use 1H or desktop PC on UPS to avoid power cut during the operation.

– The operation takes about 30min. So either you stay in the car while time is still on or off with the PC: not to go back in the car during the regeneration, avoids interactions with it to avoid problems.

– If you use an adapter Com (232) -> USB, verify that the com port is set to COM1. The interface does not work on another COM port!

– Check the oil level before and after regen. If after regen, the oil level is too high or if it stinks diesel will require draining.

– Disable the energy saving usb, antivirus, internet and all that can use PC resources.

How to use Honda HIM for DPF forced regeneration:

On this, I appeal to my memory, because I was a bit stressed during the manip and I also fear that my PC crashes battery.

Let’s go:

1) Make a nice little tricks with the car to make the 76 ° or at least not too far

2) Put themselves in a place where noise motors can interfere people and nothing can come under the car. (The DPF rises above 600 ° C)

3) Open the hood

4) Disable all that pump energy (ceiling, etc …) and especially not fun to reactivate during operation.

5) Connect the HIM to the car and the computer.

6) Start the HDS

7) Turn the ignition on II

8) In Honda HDS, press the “Select a new vehicle” and enter the mileage.


9) Select “System”

10) Select “Diesel”


11) Check and delete the DTC menu “DTC – given frozen”. The HDS warn you it is absolutely necessary to remove them before operation and also check the various sensors of the DPF, so if you have a problem with sensors, do not bother going any further.

12) and go back to “Settings”


13) Select “DPF Regeneration”

14) Put the engine running, turn on the lights and put on the air conditioner ON

15) If the engine is not the right temp, the HDS asked to accelerate between 1600 and 2400trs/min

16) When the temp is reached, the HDS takes over, release the accelerator.

17) Allow the Honda HDS to regeneration. The engine mounts alone at 3000trs/min during regeneration, it is stagnant at 1500 trs/min. At the end of the regeneration scheme dates back to 3000 trs/min to cool the exhaust line (weird, but it is like here)


19) When the regeneration is complete, leave the HDS, turn off the engine, remove the cables from HIM and go for a ride to make sure the cooling line.

That’s all. regeneration is done!

Read BMW ISN DME CAS EWS3 EWS4 with BMW Explorer

The BMW E/F Scanner (BMW-Explorer) software program has the function of reading the  ISN synchronization code via the OBD-II in the computer with a DME / DDE engine from Siemens and Bosch.

Reading ISN DME (CAS System)

Go to the CAS control unit, “Additional functions”, “Reading ISN”

In the opened window ISN will be displayed.

If the machine is equipped with the EWS3 system where 2 bytes of the constant part and the change are used, it will be displayed in the window 2 bytes of ISN DME (the upper 3 windows will be empty), if necessary they can be changed.

If the machine uses the EWS4 system, then 16 bytes of constant synchronization are used and there is no variable part.

Also after 2006, CAS3 uses an anti-theft code for EGS

If there is an EWS3 system in the car, then this code is the same with the engine control unit, if the machine already has an EWS4 system, then EGS uses separate 2 bytes

The program is in place of the engine ISN, it will display the gearbox code .. as in the picture below
