This is the step by step instruction on Mercedes-Benz Smart 451 gearbox firmware offline scn coding update with MB Star diagnostic Mb Star Compact C4 DAS diagnostic system.
You need:
MB Star diagnostic scanner (MB SD 4 is better) at www.cnautotool.com
A laptop running Win xp/ Win 7
Procedure:
Connect MB SD C4 multiplexer to Smart 451 and the laptop
Open DAS
Data is being determined…
Select Manual vehicle identification
Select Smart fortwo (C/A451)
Then Reset of the world
Smart fortwo 45-kW gasoline engine
Left-hand steering
Want the special or standard equipment to be determined from the control unit ‘N10/10 (SAM control unit)’ automatically? Select YES.
Data is being determined…
DAS is initializing communication layer…
Communication with the control unit ‘N10/10 (SAM control unit)’ is being eatablished.

Select systems
Select N15/6 (Sprintshift control module)

Control unit adaptions
Program control unit

NOTE: For offline scn coding (diagnostic unit not networked), you must have Development Mode in DAS and activated “mbetried tool” for offline programming
